Joust Replica JAMMA Commercial Arcade Machine

Joust, distributed by Williams in 1982, has knights on mounted ostriches battling approaching vultures in flapping battles. Players control flying and flapping with a joystick and button, respectively, colliding with foes from above to destroy and score them. Platforms, lava pits, and pterodactyls raise the level of challenge for each wave, while undropped eggs lead to the creation of new enemies.

The stand-up cabinet features side graphics of knights on ostriches. Its slanted control panel features two stations, each with an 8-way joystick and red “Flap” button. A lit marquee over the 19″ CRT reads “JOUST” in gothic letters, and a mono speaker housed behind a perforated grille supplies the sound.
